Exercise to open 5 new safari zones in Ranthambore National Park, tourism will get a boost

To promote tourism in Ranthambore National Park, preparations are being made to open 5 new safari zones. This exercise has been started by the Forest Department.

According to the information received from the Forest Department, the exercise of opening new safari zones in various ranges of Ranthambore National Park has been started by the department. The forest department has also earmarked a place for new safari zones in Ranthambore National Park.

Safari routes also prepared

In order to open new tourist zones in Ranthambore National Park, tracks have also been prepared by the Forest Department in the respective areas. In many areas, the Forest Department has also prepared the entrance gates of the Safari Zone in Ranthambore. These include many areas like Jhoomar Baori, Bhadlav etc.

New safari zones will be developed in an area of 103 km

A total new area of 103 km has been selected by the Forest Department to open 5 new zones in different ranges of Ranthambore. This area is included in Ranthambore's ROPT, Kundera and Khandar ranges. Out of these, two zones will be started in Kundera and Khandar ranges and one new zone will be started in ROPT range.

The intention of the forest department behind this is to reduce the pressure of tourists from the main safari zone of Ranthambore National Park.

Mahendra Sharma, Deputy Conservator of Forests of Ranthambore Tiger Project said that "5 new zones are being developed in Ranthambore. Areas have also been identified for this. These safari zones will be operated on the basis of rotation policy."

Tourism will be in 10 safari zones only

Even though the Forest Department is trying to start 5 new safari zones in Ranthambore National Park, but in Ranthambore, tourism will be done in 10 zones like the present. Five new zones will be operated by the Forest Department on the basis of rotation policy. In such a situation, when tourism will be done in zones 11 to 15, then some safari zones from zone 1 to 10 will be closed for that day.

Constraints due to guidelines

Forest officials said that according to the guide line of the Supreme Court, tourism can be done in a maximum of 20% of the area in any tiger reserve, but if tourism is currently being done in less than 20% of the area in a tiger reserve, then it cannot be increased.

Significantly, at present, tourism activities are being conducted in 16% of the area in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.

Presently tourism is taking place in 10 safari zones.
