Tigress T 102 shifted from Ranthambore to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve

On 16 July 2022, tigress T 102 was successfully rescued from Ranthambore National Park and shifted to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi district. Ramgarh Vishdhari in Bundi district is the fourth tiger reserve of Rajasthan which has been declared recently.

The long-standing exercise to shift the tigress from Ranthambore National Park to Bundi's Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve has been completed on Saturday. Tigress 102 was tranquilized in Ama Ghati forest area in Ranthambore on Saturday morning. After this, Dr CP Meena, the Veterinarian of the Forest Department and the team examined the health of the tigress. After this the tigress was put in the cage. The tigress was sent to the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi by road by keeping a cage in the vehicle. In such Ranthambore the target T 102 was successfully executed.

Tracing campaign started like this

According to the information, the rescue team of the Forest Department reached the Ama Ghati forest area at around 6.30 am and started the search for the tigress. After about half an hour of effort, the team saw the tigress. After some time, top officials of the forest department reached the spot. After this, the rescue team in-charge Rajveer Singh tranquilized the tigress.

Radio collar fitted on tigress

According to the department, after tranquilizing the tigress, a radio collar was also placed around the tigress's neck in Ranthambore itself. After this, Tigress was released in soft enclosure in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, Bundi. A radio collar was attached to the tigress's neck as she entered the enclosure. The tigress will be kept in a soft enclosure for about 15 days. After that she will be released in the forest. 

Male tiger T 115 will get mate soon

Male tiger T115, who has been wandering alone for a long time in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, will soon find a mate. In such a situation, after the formation of a pair, there is a possibility of increasing the tiger population in Ramgarh. 

Introduction of Tigress T 102

Tigress T-102 is the daughter of Tigress T-73. Tigress T 73 has been the dominant tigress of Kachida Valley. This area comes under Zone 5 of Ranthambore National Park. Around March 2016, tigress T-73 gave birth to two female cubs in her first litter.

Both the cubs of the first litter of tigress T-73 were first sighted on 15 June 2016 during Ranthambore Jungle Safari in Zone 5. After this, the forest department identified both the female cubs by numbers T 102 and T 103.

Tigress T102 gave birth to four cubs in her first litter in November 2020. The tigress often lived in the Aama Ghati area in Zone 5 of the Ranthambore National Park. For the first time tigress cubs were seen in this area. The cubs of tigress T 102 were captured for the first time in the photo trap camera of the Forest Department. 

On 9 May 2021, a cub of tigress T102 was found dead in Tamba Khan Area of Ranthambore National Park. This cub of tigress T102 was female and it was feared that the cub was killed in a fight with tigress Riddhi.
