Jungle safari zones 1 to 5 of Ranthambore National Park are closed during monsoon while zones 6 to 10 are open to tourists.

There are ten different safari zones for wildlife explore by Jeep and Canter, its reservation begins ninety days before the date of the safari. Among these, Safari zones of 1 to 5 are considered as premium safari zones in Ranthambore National Park. Due to excess of river stream and wildlife in these zones, they are kept closed for tourists by the forest department every year from July to September in monsoon. While the other Safari zones 6 to 10 of the park are open for tourists in monsoon season and throughout the year. But this year it was considered by the Forest Department to open Safari Zone 1 to 5. Order also was given by the Forest department to open these safari zones one to five in monsoon. But it was opposed by wildlife lovers and it was considered against nature by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
As per the wildlife conservationist and enthusiasts the time of monsoon is the breeding season of wildlife and in this way, wildlife will be disrupted due to the regular jungle safari in monsoon. NTCA has also criticized the Forest Department for not following its rules and quoting its guideline said that all Tiger Reserve across the country should be closed for three to five months during monsoon. After long confusion and opposition Forest Department had to change this decision and take orders back. Safari pathways get damaged in monsoon. Whereby, the possibility of accident remains during jungle safari, which is not safe for tourists. Although the nature of Ranthambore changes in monsoon and the weather gets cheerful. The greenery surroundings, waterfalls and streams make Ranthambore atmosphere pleasant. For this reason thousands of tourists come to Ranthambore from nearby the areas for picnic. Due to this, the Forest Department has kept opened Safari Zone 6 to 10 for tourists, so that they can enjoy wildlife safari along with picnics.

Its history is associated with the Ranthambore fort which is located in the middle of the park and built in the nineteenth century, which is around 900 years old.
