Tiger couple will be relocated from Ranthambore National Park to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve
Soon, end of the December 2017, Tigers will be relocated from Ranthambore National Park to Mukandra Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR). After the long wait of wildlife lovers, Tigers roar can be heard on New Year's Eve in the forests of Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, Kota Rajasthan. In 2013, the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve has been notified by the Rajasthan Government as the third largest Tiger Habitat in the state. Theretofore, Ranthambore National Park (RTR) which is located in Swai Madhopur and Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) which is situated in Alwar were the only two Tiger reserves in Rajasthan.
The Ranthambhore Tiger sanctuary was reserved for the spillover of the tiger population, which is presently reported about 65 tigers. By December 2017, the Rajasthan government is preparing to relocate a tiger couple from Ranthambore to Mukundra. According to the Forest Department officials, the date of leaving the tiger in Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve of Kota has been fixed on December 31. In the beginning, a tiger couple will be relocated to Tiger Reserve. The forest department is busy preparing it. According to the information, in the beginning, a couple of tigers will be brought to the Mukundra Hill Tiger Reserve by road. Under this, Ranthambore is expected to reduce the pressure of growing Tiger population.
A few days ago, a male tiger T-91 has left from Ranthambhore and has reached the forests of Bundi, This tiger will be tranquilized and relocated into the Mukundra. On the other hand, the tigress T-83 (Lightning) will also be brought here as a tiger's partner. These days, Tiger T-91 is perambulating in the Ramgarh Sanctuary of Bundi district. This tiger is said to be quite dreaded. In addition to these two tigress-tigers, the forest department has identified two other tigers including male Tiger T-66 and female tiger T-79. There are about 300 Chital and Sambar Deer will be shifted from the Cantonment area in kota and Jodhpur zoo to increase the hunting base for the tigers in the Mukundra hills. The Central Zoo Authority has given permission for shifting Chital (Deer) from Jodhpur Zoo.
Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve spreads over in area 759.99 square kilometers. This tiger reserve includes some parts of Dara Sanctuary, Jawahar Sagar Sanctuary and National Chambal Gharial sanctuary. Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve has 417.17sq. Km Critical Tiger Habitat (Core area) and there is 342.82 sq km Buffer area. It was declared a Tiger Reserve on March 9, 2013.
Maharao Mukund former ruler of Kota Principality had developed the mountainous hill area of the Dara as a hunting ground. The parallel hills extending from selgar and Kolpura to Kali Sindh were named Mukandra Hills under the name of Rao Mukund. The name of the tiger reserve area was named Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in the name of these Mukundra Hills. This tiger reserve is spread in Kota-Bundi, Jhalawar and in the district of Chittor.
