News: Demand for shifting of Tigers of Ranthambore Reserve









The Member of Parliament of Kota area Om Birla raised the issue in Lok Sabha during zero hour's discussion of displacement of tigers from Ranthambhore to Mukundara Hills Tiger reserve. According to the news of NDTV.com Mukundra hills Tiger reserve spread over an area 759 square kilometer including core area of 417 sq km and buffer area of 342.82 sq km and it covers district of kota , Bundi , chittorgarh and Jhalawar in Rajasthan India.

At present the number of tigers has increased in Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve sawai Madhopur Rajasthan and the area is insufficient for tigers due to over population in Ranthambhore. That is why the problem of migration and strife of tigers are growing in Ranthambhore. Some tigers have made their territory in Datiya, Kunopalanpur in Madhya Pradesh and Ramgarh and Sultanpur forest area in Rajasthan.

Some tigers from Ranthambore Reserve could be shifted to Mukundra Hills Reserve. If displacement of tigers should be on the lines of the Sariska, tourism will be developed with new source and Tigers will get secure environment, Om Birla said who represents Kota constituency of Rajasthan. Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve development process is under the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests and it is also under consideration of the National Tiger Conservation.
