Female Leopard that fell into a 30 feet deep well, Rescued
A female leopard (Panther) fell into a dry well while wandering in search of prey and water at around 7 am on Tuesday in Sherpur village on Ranthambore Road. After Leopard fell into the well, the monkeys started making alarm calls, when the villagers went to the well and saw a panther had fallen. Wandering from hunger and thirst, the panther had come to the populated area.
After this, the villagers informed the forest department about the leopard falling in a 30 feet deep well in Sherpur village. On this information, the forest department's rescue team reached the spot.
Rescue operation started under the leadership of rescue team in-charge Rajveer Singh. The rescue team pulled the panther out of the well by making a rope noose. The rescue operation went on for about 45 minutes. After this, the Panther was also tranquilized as a precaution.
After this the forest department team took the panther to the Ama Ghati Chowki for investigation and treatment. Many officers of the Forest Department were present during this. After investigation, the panther was released in the forest.

The well was 30 feet deep
According to the information, the well in which the female leopard fell was about 30 feet deep. This well is just 50 meters from the boundary of the forest.
Cubs are also likely
Villagers told that there is a constant movement of female panther in the area. Panther has given birth to cubs nearby. According to the villagers, the panther keeps coming towards the fields with the cubs every day.
Panther (Leopard) was hungry and thirsty for many days
The forest department doctors who treated the leopard said that the leopard was hungry and thirsty for several days and had become a victim of dehydration. Panther was treated with fluid therapy and lifesaving drugs. Thereafter, after the panther recovered, it was released in the forest area around 1 pm.
Accidents have happened before
Even before this, there have been many incidents of wild animals falling into the well. This is not the first time that a wild animal fell into a well outside the forest of Ranthambore.

Earlier, Ranthambore's tigress Lightning had also fallen into a dry well in Khawa village on Ranthambore road in the dark of night. The tigress was also pulled out of the well by the forest department's rescue team after a lot of effort. However, tigress Lightning was later shifted to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota.
