Tourism will develop in Ranthambore National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary: Located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, Ranthambore National Park holds its own identity for tigers in the world. On the same lines, the crocodile and alligator area, nestled between the sandy banks of the Chambal River flowing in the Khandar area of Sawai Madhopur district, is desperate to be recognized as a major center of tourism.

Tourists who have seen tiger sightings in Ranthambore National Park are now enjoying the fun of alligators and migratory birds as well as boating. The National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary was established in 1978.

Four decades ago, the species of alligators had reached the brink of extinction in the national Chambal Gharial region. But now the species of gharials have been recorded in Chambal region in large numbers as a result of wildlife conservation and management. According to the officials of Chambal Gharial, there is a significant increase in the number of alligators every year.

Gharial Rescue Center will be built at Pali Ghat

Once again the work of developing Gharial Rescue Center at Pali Ghat is also being done by the Forest Department. In the past also, a proposal was prepared for this on the lines of Madhya Pradesh. Various species of alligators will be preserved in this. Along with this, a separate center will also be developed, where information about alligators will be made available to the tourists.

This will increase the tourism of Ranthambore and research work will also increase. This proposal of the department has also been given in-principle approval.

Getting monthly income of 37 lakhs

Forest officer said that at present the department is earning 15,000 per day and 25000 per day on weekends from tourism in Chambal Sanctuary. In such a situation, the department is getting an income of 37 lakhs in a month.

Not only this, more than 50 local people are also getting employment through boating and other means. With the further increase of tourism in the National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary of Ranthambore, employment and income opportunities will increase further.

Different species of aquatic organisms

The National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary at PaliGhat in Sawai Madhopur district is home to alligators, crocodiles, tortoises and various species of fish. Apart from this, there is presence of various species of migratory and residence birds.

The Forest Department of Ranthambore is also focusing on developing tourism in Chambal Sanctuary. For the first time, a fund of about 5 lakhs has also been released by the Forest Department for Chambal Sanctuary. Along with this, to promote Chambal Sanctuary, on the lines of Ranthambore National Park, now the jacket of Chambal National Sanctuary has also been issued.

Tourists are getting these facilities

The work is being done by the Forest Department to develop Chambal Sanctuary as a tourist destination on the lines of Ranthambore National Park. Under this, once again the boating facility has been started at Pali Ghat by the Forest Department.

To facilitate tourism, urinals have been set up at various places and arrangements for drinking water have been made. Tents have also been set up for the comfort of the tourists. Cafeteria and refreshment facilities are provided for the tourists.

Now the plan of the department is to connect Palighat and Rameshwaram Dham through boating. Work on this plan has been started. Apart from this, plans are also being made to develop other cafeterias, road and toy train facilities etc.

Tourists will be able to see the birds

Located in Ranthambore, Palighat is a paradise for bird watchers. Riverfront at Pali Ghat will also be developed by the department soon.

With the help of this riverfront vernacular, tourists will be able to enjoy the views of alligators, crocodiles and Chambal River along with migratory and resident birds.

How to reach Pali Ghat Chambal Gharial Sanctuary

To reach Crocodile Sanctuary Chambal River Palighat you have to take MDR 111 to Sawai Madhopur - Khandar Road/Sheopur - Sawai Madhopur Road.

The distance from Sawai Madhopur to Crocodile Sanctuary Chambal River Palighat is about 35 to 40 kilometers. It takes about an hour to reach here.
